Canadians Ignite Salt Lake Ice
The short track skaters of Canada had an amazing weekend in Salt Lake. Amelie Goulet-Nadon took 2nd in the 1500m and 1000m, and 1st in the 500m, and 3000m. She is having an incredible season. She had some of her fastest times at the World Cup in Bormio. But then she came to Salt Lake and broke her personal best records again in the 500m and 1000m. She placed first overall.

Amelie Goulet-Nadon (CAN) takes 2nd by a skate blade
Salt Lake was the first time many short track fans got a taste of Jeff Scholten. He had an impressive weekend with 2nd place in the 1500m and 1000m, 1st in the 500m, and 4th in the 3000m. He placed first overall.
Alanna Kraus took 3rd in the 500m, while 3rd in the 1000m went to Tania Vicent. Francois-Louis Tremblay took home 3 3rd places in the 1500m, 500m, and 1000m. Jean-Francois Monette placed 2nd in the 500m.
Ohno Rules on Final Day
The first two days of competition, Apolo Anton Ohno was shut out of the winners circle. He was disqualified in both the 1500m and the 500m. The pressures of performing on home turf and the ice conditions being a bit "brittle" seemed to be taking a toll on Ohno.

Crowd goes wild for Ohno's (USA) 3000m win.
But then came…day three! Ohno took the ice with a new strategy. It seems he was wanting to lead the 1000m races from the beginning, rather than use his infamous "come-from-behind-in-the-final-lap" strategy. This served him well as he inched out a win in the 1000m final. With Scholten, Tremblay, and Sui Baoku (CHN) at his heels, the race was close the entire way. Ohno's 1st place and Sui's 4th were separated by a mere .3 seconds! Ohno conluded his great day with another win in the 3000m. He had a successful weekend, placing 2nd overall.
