Short track speed skating competition starts in September and culminates with the World Championships in March.

World Championships

The World Championships is the biggest non-Olympic competition in short track. They are usually had at the end of March every year.

The format of the World Championships is the same as the World Cups. Day one is the 1500m. Day two is the 500m. Day three is the 1000m, 3000m and relay finals. Medals are awarded for the 3 places for each distance. Cumulative final points standings determine who gets to be crowned World Champion.
